Pran Lassa Semai 180g

Pran Lachcha Semai is fried vermicelli, the fine, tangled semai used for Eid desserts, in a 180g pack. It is made in Bangladesh by PRAN Agro Ltd., and the pack also names it pheni. In Bengali homes it is cooked with milk and sugar, or with ghee and sugar for a drier sweet, on Eid morning.

How to use

• Warm a little ghee with cardamom and cinnamon, add the semai, then pour in hot sweetened milk and simmer only briefly, as the strands are already fried.
• For a drier version, toss the semai with ghee, sugar and a splash of milk until the liquid is absorbed.
• Finish with raisins and sliced almonds or pistachios.
