Snakehead Steak 500g

Snakehead Steak is a 500g pack of halal snakehead fish cut into steaks, the fish Bengali cooks call shol. Padma lists it as a frozen product of Vietnam, where the fish is known as cá lóc. Snakehead has firm white flesh with few small bones, so thick steaks hold together well in a curry.

How to use

• Cook shol macher jhol with potato and tomato, or a thick bhuna with onion and green chilli.
• Rub the steaks with turmeric, chilli and salt and shallow-fry them.
• For a Vietnamese dish, braise them in fish sauce and caramel (cá kho) or add to a sour tamarind soup.
• Delivered chilled; store as directed on the pack.
