Ambika Besan 500g

Ambika Besan is gram flour made from ground chickpeas, in a 500 g pack. Ambika Japan lists India as the origin and chickpeas as the only ingredient. The smaller pack suits cooks who reach for besan now and then, for a batch of pakora or a pot of kadhi.

How to use

• Whisk with water, salt, chilli and a pinch of ajwain into a thick batter for onion or potato pakora.
• Stir into yoghurt and water to thicken kadhi before it simmers.
• Cook thin, savoury chilla pancakes on a flat pan.
• Roast gently in ghee as the base for besan laddu or barfi.
