Padma Premium Basmati Rice is 1121 basmati from India in a 5kg pack, imported under the Padma label by PADMA Co., Ltd. of Misato, Saitama. 1121 is a basmati variety known for very long, slender grains that stretch further as they cook, which is why many cooks save it for biryani.

How to use

• Rinse, then soak for about 30 minutes so the long grains cook evenly.
• For biryani, par-boil in salted water until about two-thirds done, layer with the meat or vegetable masala and finish covered on low heat.
• For plain rice, cook covered in measured water on low heat until absorbed, then rest ten minutes before fluffing.
