Pran Beson 500g

Pran Beson is gram flour, the besan of South Asian cooking, in a 500 g pack from the Bangladeshi brand Pran. In Bengali kitchens it is the batter flour for fritters such as beguni and piyaju, and it is also used to bind kebabs and cutlets.

How to use

• Sift first, as gram flour tends to form small lumps.
• Whisk with water, salt, turmeric and chilli powder into a smooth, thick batter.
• Dip sliced aubergine for beguni, or mix with chopped onion and green chilli for piyaju, then deep-fry until golden.
• Store as directed on the pack.
