Padma Black Cumin 100g

Padma Black Cumin is kalo jira, the small black seed also known as nigella or kalonji, in a 100 g pack. Padma lists India as its origin. The seeds have a slightly bitter, onion-like taste and are almost always used whole.

How to use

• Fry a pinch in hot oil as a tempering for Bengali vegetable dishes and dal.
• Press onto naan or flatbread dough before baking.
• Add to lime, mango or mixed pickles.
• Combine with fenugreek, cumin, fennel and mustard seed to make panch phoron.
