Padma Pach Puron 100g

Padma Pach Puron is panch phoron, the Bengali whole-spice mix, in a 100 g pack. Padma lists India as the origin. Panch phoron usually combines five seeds, such as fenugreek, nigella, cumin, fennel and black mustard or radhuni, and goes into hot oil before the vegetables.

How to use

• Fry half a teaspoon in mustard oil until the seeds pop, then add vegetables for chorchori or labra.
• Temper red lentil dal with it and a dried chilli.
• Use it in tomato chutney, pickles and potato or pumpkin dishes.
• Take it off the heat once fragrant, as fenugreek turns bitter if burnt.
